Silently
popping-up under your main page
This
script will show you how to do a 'Pop-Under'
pop-up.
The
benefits of a pop-under are:
- Highly
non-intrusive considering it is a pop-up!
- As
effective, if not more, when compared to a normal
pop-up
- Highly
attention-grabbing, but much less in-your-face
- Since
you cannot control when it will show up, you
risk misleading
your visitor into thinking it was popped up
from some other web site
which they didn't like.
- If
they get mislead, then the content in your pop-up
may never get read.
- So,
potentially, a double-edged sword.
Cookie
Tracking
This
script makes use of cookie-tracking to make sure
that
the pop-up does not pop-up every single time your
visitor leaves
or enters your home page (depending on whether
this is an exit-pop-under
or an entry-pop-under. So, basically, what this
means is, that your
pop-up will be shown to your visitor only
once per visit (once per
browser session), thus avoiding showing him the
same pop-up
again and again which could really irritate your
visitor to such an
extent that they may never come back to your
site again, let alone
buy your product!
